I became lactose intolerant after a while. Prior to civilization, we only really drank milk when it came from our mothers, and then when we stopped the enzyme the breaks down lactose turns off as it is superfluous and the body need not manufacture it anymore. However, since the production of dairy on a more consistent basis, with animal husbandry and all, dairy enzymes stay on longer as we take them in. It is very common for long-term vegans to eventually "become" lactose intolerant after a point. When I was in junior high, I used to chug a gallon skim milk a day. Now, if I even have a sip of somethign with dairy, or eat pizza that had cheese on it prior, I get like this (feels awful) Point is, so many people go "Dude, just eat the fucking pizza" or "It's only a little meat" or even say "It's totally vegan" but really has cheese or chicken broth in it and it's pretty god damn ignorant cause they do that thinking it's all just a "choice" but at some point it's very tough for your body to turn back. My friend Tristan was vegan for pretty much his whole life - his parents raised him vegetarian and at like 8 or 9 he switched to vegan. Then at 20 or so he tried a piece of fish and threw up like you wouldn't imagine. He ate a piece of pizza in Europe since he had trouble finding vegan food and got so backed up he had to go to the hospital. All I'm saying is be a little more compassionate to people who are vegan, treat them as they have legitimate food allergies after a while, cause otherwise we can get really really sick...and it's not very funny when that happens. :(
