The man in black actor hasn't been in a single episode this season, yet his character has been in every one. Locke isn't even in this season, but the actor is. See my point? If Dan is the smoke monster, and is trapped in the body of Locke, then it would make pretty good sense that the actor who plays Daniel is not going to be appearing any time soon. Here's the really short version as I suspect: When Dan was lost in time, somehow he ended up in the 1800's as first mate of the Black Rock. The journal he carried around with him the entire 4th season was in fact the same journal that Widmore buys at auction. (the manifest/journal). Jacob was the captain of the ship, who is the descendant of Alvar Hanzo. Jacob must protect the island, just as Alvar was funding Dharma to change the eqation/numbers to stop the end of the world. Dan is trapped as the smoke monster and remains lost in time on the island unable to leave. Richard Alpert is a slave from the ship, brought along to work the mines they were headed to. The smoke monster talks about his crazy mother that left him with issues for the 200 years or more he's been on the island. I'd say having a mother that lied to you all your life and eventually MURDERED you willingly and in cold blood is the definition of crazy mom, don't you? Also, WHY were Eloise and Widmore so WILLING to deceive and eventually MURDER their own son, but because they know he is destined to become their worst enemy/threat - the smoke monster. I really could keep going, this is something that I've been guessing at all season and every episode that goes by seems to be giving me more and more reason to believe it. |
