Joe/NotCommon said:
I hope Rudra doesn't have any trouble getting into the US, if they aren't letting Canadians in then what chance does a band from Singapore have? Rudra won't have any merch either, but told the US customs people in their country they are going to play a couple of non-paying gigs. Maybe I should have Stone Cutter set up a fake receipt saying they are also recording. Does anyone know about this sort of thing?
the canadian border is tough. fortunately, when we went there, we knew some people there who could back up our bogus story. we went in two vans. the first van went through with 5 guys and the equipment (there were 4 bands, we shared gear) and they said that they were playing a friends wedding party. they gave the girls name and number and when customs called her, she confirmed the story. the rest of us went over the next day and said we were just going up to st. catherine street to party. it was insanely cold out, and i think that's the only reason they didn't search our van. i assume stone cutter is a studio? just give the guy a heads up that he may get a call from US customs and to say that rudra has a recording date, and everything should work out fine. as long as they can't PROVE you're lying i think they have to let you through. i hope that any of that may help you. i don't know what overseas bands generally do to come here, but i think as long as they don't have a criminal record or haven't causeed any previous disturbance in the US they should be fine. The good pepole at Armageddon bring european bands over here pretty fequently, maybe you could call them.
